Missing Flashing

Missing Flashing

This lower roof of this Bristow Virginia house is missing both types of flashing.  It should have a step flashing, which is placed successively under each shingle from the bottom to the top of the roof.  Each of these is glued to the brick.  To cover the whole, making the line cleaner and the flashing even drier, a counter flash is glued over the step flashing.  In this neighborhood, there were six houses with this elevation.  Two had only step flashing (not glued), two looked like this house, one had counter flashing without step flashing (!) and one was done correctly.  That is a poor record.
